I managed to find a little bit of time to update this blog today. As promised in my last posting, please allow me to share with you some tips on how to get through your part II (Parking - consist of Slope, Side parking and 3 point turn) and part III (which is on the road test). Let me to start of with part III which I find it equally important. As I said before, you needed 16 points out of 20 to pass this part III. You will accumulate points when you adhere to these tips.
a) Point no 1 - Adjust your seat.
Hint: When you first enter the car, you must adjust your seat. Press your left leg towards the clutch pedal and adjust accordingly. Not all of us have the same height. When you're seated comfortably then release the clutch pedal.
b) Point no 2 - Adjust your rear view mirror and side mirror.
Hint: It is important to adjust the mirrors because while on the road you need to look at it to see if there is any on coming cars/motorbikes in order for you to change lane.![]()
c) Point no 3 - Buckle up your seat belt.
Hint: It is vitally important and a MUST buckle up your seat belt while you are taking a on the road test. Failure to do so, the examiner will fail you on the spot.
d) Point no 4 - Ensure that the car is in free gear.
Hint: Before you start the car engine, always ensure that the car is in free gear. Failure to so and when it is in geared position and when you start the car it will jerk and have a sudden movement.
e) Point no 5 - Check the windscreen washer switch and signal lights.
Hint: Before you start your route test, you must ensure that the instruments and controls are in working condition. Please check the lights, signals, hazard lights, windscreen washer and lastly hon.
f) Point no 6 - Use your signal lights.
Hint: It is very important to use the signal lights whenever you want to make a turning. Whether it is at the traffic lights or junction, signal light is a must!
g) Point no 7 - Brake
Hint: Many students will know how to place their foot on the accelerator but they fail or forgot to brake when there is danger ahead. Panic is the cause of this action. You must know how to slow or stop a moving vehicle is very important. You must apply pressure in the brake pedal. Do not let the tester to brake for you.
h) Point no 8 - Follow traffic rules.
Hint: As always, while on the road, there are many sign boards and traffic light. Make sure you follow those traffic rules. Do not beat the traffic lights. !!! If you stopped at the traffic light, always free the gear and pull the hand brake. Your right leg on the brake pedal to ensure that the back lights are lighten.
i) Point no 9 - The STOP (Berhenti sign).
Hint: I'm very sure that there are quite a numbers of Stop signs around. You must STOP when seeing this sign board. Normally you'll find this sign at the junction. Do not stop the car over the white line.
j) Point no 10 - Double lines.
Hint: Always remember not to change lane on double lines. Students may not notice this when they are on the road test.
k) Point no 11 - Use the correct lane and steering control.
Hint: You are required to drive at the left lane at all times. When necessary, if you need to change to the right lane always use the signal lights. One piece of small advise, do not hold the steering to tight. When students panic, they tried to hold on to something!!! Hahaha.
l) Point no 12 - Driving your vehicle at a safe distance.
Hint: While taking test, try not to drive to close to the vehicle in front of you. My advise is that you need to keep distance at least 2-3 cars away. If the car in front of you apply an emergency brake you'll have time to brake.![]()
m) Point no 13 - Overtaking and Rear view mirror.
Hint: If you have no choice and need to overtake a vehicle (which you don't normally do during a test), you must use the rear view mirror and the side mirror. You are required to give signal before overtaking.
n) Point no 14 - Speed limit.
Hint: During a test, speed limit is very important. You must adhere to the speed limit. Most of the route chosen by the examiner there will be a school near by. Look out for the sign board which says "school compound speed limit 30 km/hr" (Kawasan sekolah Had Laju 30). If there isn't any school near by your normal speed you may go is 40-50km/hr.
0) Point no 15 - Pedestrain crossing.
Hint: At times, depending where you take the driving test, you may come across a pedestrian crossing. Priority must be given to pedestrian crosser first where there is no traffic lights.
p) Point no 16 - Corner
Hint: When you are nearing to a corner, it is recommended to use the 2nd gear to turn. After turning, straighten back your steering and increase back your speed. Take a quick look at the speedometer when it reaches 20km/hrs or over, you're required to change to gear 3.
q) Point no 17 - Changing lane.
Hint: If there is a traffic jam ahead of you, do not change lane quickly or drive dangerously. Fall back to your correct lane which is the left lane.
r) Point no 18 - Using the correct gear.
Hint: refer to point no 16.
s) Point no 19 - Priority must be given to vehicle on the right, at junctions or at roundabout.
t) Point no 20 - Do not drive dangerously or recklessly.
Good luck and have fun. Next topic will be part II - slope (mendaki bukit). See you soon.
